Tip of the Week: Competitive Selling Tips - GoldMine Corporate Edition 7.0
Although traditionally GoldMine was a direct competitor with Maximizer, the contact management software, with the release of Corporate Edition, GoldMine now competes directly with Maximizer Enterprise in the CRM space. To help you competitively position Maximizer Enterprise, here are the top 5 selling tips when selling against GoldMine Corporate Edition:
- Functionality - GoldMine CE is not a complete CRM solution - it has no Customer Service and Support module (it requires HEAT Service & Support or HEAT powerdesk, which adds significantly to the cost of the solution); there are no sales strategies or sales teams; no partner or customer portals; the built-in Outlook integration does not include activities or contacts; the interface is cluttered and difficult to use - form-based interface results in limited list-management funtionality, such as lack of multiple column setups and lack of following-window type functionality.
- Configuration and Customization - no central administration of settings; no ability to define security groups/roles or sales teams - each user must be configured individually; limited ability to define sales processes.
- On Demand Access - poor remote offline; GoldSync is notoriously unreliable - even FrontRange marketing materials downplay the utility of GoldSync and point customers to iGoldMine, which of course has no offline capability; no wireless PDA support.
- Price - base price reasonable, but watch for the add-ons - must pay separately for customer support module HEAT; HEAT licenses at least double the per user cost.
- Deployment - slower deployment due to manual, per user configuration for things like group access rights and automating activity follow-ups - no centralized administration for all users; higher support costs for training, even for power users.
